Set up two-factor authentication

Add an authenticator app to your account for an extra layer of sign-in security.

Two-factor authentication (also called 2FA or MFA) adds a second step when you sign in: after your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app. Even if someone learns your password, they can't get in without your phone.

Before you begin

  • Install an authenticator app on your phone if you don't have one — for example 1Password, Aegis, or Google Authenticator. Any app that generates time-based codes (TOTP) works.

Turn on two-factor authentication

  1. Sign in at app.connectbetter.co.
  2. Open your account settings and go to Security & access.
  3. Under Authenticator app, select Add authenticator app.
  4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. (Can't scan? Choose the option to paste the secret instead.)
  5. Enter the 6-digit code your app shows.
  6. Select Verify and turn on.

Your authenticator is now enrolled and listed under Enrolled. The next time you sign in, you'll be asked for a code.

If your workspace requires it

Some workspaces require two-factor authentication. If yours does and you haven't set it up yet, you'll be prompted to add an authenticator app before you can continue. Follow the same steps above.

Remove an authenticator

In Security & access, select Remove next to the authenticator. You'll need to enroll a new one before you can sign in with two-factor again.

If your workspace requires two-factor authentication, you won't be able to remove your only authenticator — an admin would need to turn off the workspace policy first.

Lost access to your authenticator?

If you've lost your phone or can't generate codes, email help@connectbetter.co from the address on your account and we'll help you regain access.
